Golden Rule Motors offers a full range of service and repair facilities. Since we are not a franchised dealer we only work on vehicles that are not covered by a factory service contract.
We do however offer extensive experience in repairs, engine overhauls, tune-ups and servicing as well as computer diagnostics
We believe in repairing rather than replacing, and can often save the customer a lot of money because of this policy.
Golden Rule Motors prefers to use genuine parts wherever possible, but we also realise that for economic reasons quality aftermarket parts is a viable option. We shall give you these options where they exist and discuss the pros and cons with you, the customer, before fitment.

Golden Rule Motors also has a small supply of used spares available. When it comes to parts that are very expensive and where the components are very reliable, using used spares can also be an option. We shall give you this option and discuss the implications with you.

All work carries a 1 year guarantee, except where used spares are used. This means that a Golden Rule Motors engine overhaul often carries a better guarantee than when the car was bought new!
We also extend this same service to other makes of vehicles, but reserve the right to not to do a job if we feel that we are not qualified to do so.

Piet Steyn , the founder of Golden Rule Motors , decided to take early retirement in 1995 due to health reasons. He had been involved with Mercedes Benz and Honda for 25 years by this time and had acquired a very well earned reputation as a problem solver on Mercedes Benz cars.

He never intended to sit around and do nothing, but thought that he would stay busy by servicing the odd car for friends and acquaintances. He soon realised that he would have to start a small workshop since he was overwhelmed with work at home.
He then started Golden Rule Motors with his son Piet Steyn jnr ., also a Mercedes Benz qualified mechanic, at small premises in Durban road, Bellville.

The name Golden Rule Motors was an inspired choice. When Piet started thinking of a name for his fledgling business he knew that he wanted to base his business on exceptional service and customer care. He was given the name when he prayerfully searched for a name. “Do unto others as you would like them to do unto you”. This philosophy is the “Golden Rule” and is the basis of our business approach.

In the twenty years since that small start, Golden Rule Motors have grown to a business that still adheres to those same principles of customer care and service excellence, but now has a team of employees with modern equipment and a passion for Mercedes and Honda cars.
